Annual reports may look like a long list of boring paragraphs where executives just want to see the bottom line, but quite often there’are a lot of hidden gems in them. Take for instance Microsoft’s latest annual report for the year ending 30th June, 2012. In here we learn about the release date of Microsoft’s Surface tablet, as found by Tom’s Hardware.
“The next version of our operating system, Windows 8, will be generally available on October 26, 2012,” the report said. “At that time, we will begin selling the Surface, a series of Microsoft-designed and manufactured hardware devices.”
Sadly there’s no mention of whether both the ARM and Intel based tablets will go on sale at the same time, or just one of the models. It will also be interesting to see the how much push partner firms are going to have for their own Windows 8 based tablets since they will be launched at the same time.
